The device has a radiator (2), heat exchanger (3) and upper and lower pressure lines provided for an actuating medium e.g. ammonia, which is warmed or cooled. The exchanger is connected with an inlet duct of a plunger over the upper pressure line. An exhaust duct of the plunger is connected with the radiator over the lower pressure line. A recuperator is provided between the exhaust duct of the plunger and the radiator. An independent claim is also included for a method of transformation of a heat energy into kinetic energy.
