PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing a metal oxide, with which the formation of the metal oxide in a mechanical seal can be prevented, and thereby the breakage of the mechanical seal can be prevented and the contamination by impurities is avoided, and further a cleaning material used in cleaning can be completely removed by washing with water. SOLUTION: In the apparatus 10 for producing the metal oxide, in which the metal oxide is produced by hydrolyzing a metal oxide raw material 12 fed in a reaction vessel 11 while stirring it together with water 13 with a stirring blade 14, a shaft sealing part 16 between a rotation shaft 15 to which the stirring blade 14 is attached and a casing 26 of the reaction vessel 11 is equipped with a mechanical seal 19 provided at the end side of the rotation shaft 15 and an auxiliary seal 18 provided at the stirring blade 14 side.
