The voltage to the electromagnetic coils (EMA, EMB) is controlled at a time dependent on the instant of change over. This control action, reduces the current induced in the coil as a result of armature movement. Alternatively it reduces the total coil current, as modified by the induced current. An independent claim is included for the corresponding actuator.
