PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a useful material, capable of efficiently producing and recovering the useful material in a graminaceous plant, and to provide a genetically modified graminaceous plant capable of being used for the same. SOLUTION: This method for producing the useful material uses the graminaceous plant, wherein the method comprises introducing a gene which encodes an amino acid sequence of the useful material, such as an antibacterial peptide, into a variant of the graminaceous plant which causes high water-content unhulled rice phenomenon, so as to transform the variant of the graminaceous plant, and then recovering the useful material from a high water-containing unhulled rice part caused in the variant of the graminaceous plant.
