A driving method comprises the steps of: (a) when a display cell is lit at a brightness of (alpha+kxn)th grayscale level, turning ON display cells not only in a sub-field period in which a display cell is lit at a brightness of (alpha+Kx(n-1))th grayscale level, but also in other sub-field periods; and (b) when a display cell is lit at a brightness of an intermediate level between (alpha+Kx(n-1))th grayscale level and (alpha+Kxn)th grayscale level, setting display cells to be a opposite state of a turned ON or turned OFF state at (alpha+Kx(n-1))th or (alpha+Kxn)th grayscale level only in a predetermined sub-field period of a display period of each of fields.
