MODULAR PATIENT MONITORING

The present invention provides a modular patient monitoring system that has a base station and a coupling unit as well as a number of application specific transducers for acquisition and generating of patient monitoring data. The various transducers are accomplished with digital signal processing means allowing for digital signal transmission between the transducers and the coupling unit. Coupling of the various different types of transducers to the coupling unit can therefore be based on a common interface allowing for larger flexibility of a patient monitoring system. In particular, the number of configuration options and extension options as well as upgrade support can be significantly enhanced.
