<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photodetector having a flat distribution of sensitivity. <P>SOLUTION: The photodetector is equipped with a optical detecting element 60 which has a prescribed distribution of sensitivity in a prescribed wavelength range; and a compensation optical system 20 which includes a compensation filter having a transmission distribution in inverse relation to the distribution of sensitivity of the optical detecting element in a prescribed wavelength range and a selection filter selectively transmitting light having a prescribed wavelength range.
