<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user authentication system, a user authentication device and a user authentication method, using a password with widely spreading characters, numeral or the like, imparting little burden on a user at authentication, and having small risk that the password is guessed even if operation at the authentication is seen by a third party to maintain high security, in an authentication system. <P>SOLUTION: In this authentication system, when a user requires the authentication from a user authentication screen 301, the user finds the character in a password array 302 sequentially from the first character of the password memorized by the user oneself, a background is operated by an movement key such that a background color of the password character becomes a password color, and operation wherein a selection key is pressed down when the background becomes the password color is repeated.
