<p>Preparation of arylamine (I) comprises reacting arylhalogenide compounds (3-6) with amino compounds (7 or 8) in the presence of organic or inorganic base and a catalyst (a palladium compound and a phosphine compound). Preparation of arylamine (I) comprises reacting haloaryl compounds of formulae (3-6) with amino compounds of formula (7 or 8) in the presence of organic or inorganic base and a catalyst (a palladium compound and a phosphine compound of formula (1 or 2)). R10>-R24> = dialkylamino, alkyl-aryl-amino, diarylamino, 1-20C alkyl or 1-20C alkoxy or 3-20C cycloalkyl ring, phenyl, naphthyl or higher condensed system (such as anthracenyl, phenanthrenyl, pyrenyl or aralkyl such as or benzyl or (1-methyl-ethyl)phenyl, which are optionally substituted) or vinyl (all substituted with alkoxy, dialkylamino, aryloxy, aryl alkyl amino, aralkylamino, diarylamino), Cl, Br, I, H or CN; (A)m = alkylene (where m is 1-20), vinylene (where m is 1-6), arylene (where m is 1-6) (where the alkylene, vinylene and arylene are substituted with substituents of R10>-R24>) or N, O or S (where m is 0); R5>-R7> = 1-6C alkyl, 3-20C cycloalkyl, phenyl, naphthyl, aralkyl or higher condensed system (all optionally substituted); R1>-R4> = 1-6C alkyl, 3-20C cycloalkyl, phenyl, naphthyl or higher condensed system (all optionally substituted); and Z = 1-6C alkyl. The groups of R10>-R24> with the exception of univalent groups can form part of ring between different aryl rings with the proviso that Cl, Br or I is directly bounded to R10>-R24> of the ring 3-6.
