PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the construction of an optical transmission and reception module for manufacturing an optical transmission and reception module inexpensively without using active alignment. SOLUTION: The optical transmission and reception module includes an LD5, a PD 6, a WDM filter 7 and an optical fiber 8, and which is constituted so that light having a wavelengthλ1 which is emitted from the LD 5 is reflected by a filter 7 to be made incident on the optical fiber 8 and light having a wavelengthλ2 which is propagated through the optical fiber 8 transmits the filter 7 to be made incident on the PD 6. The optical transmission and reception module is characterized by being equipped with a Frensnel zone plate 11 between the LD 5 and the filter and/or between the filter 7 and the optical fiber 8. The manufacturing method of the optical transmission and reception module is characterized in that, after the LD 5, the PD 6, the WDM filter 7 and the optical fiber 8 are fixed to a substrate 10, the optical transmission and reception module is obtained by forming the Fresnel zone plate 11 while irradiating the area between the LD5 and the filter 7 and/or between the filter 7 and the optical fiber 8 with the converged femtosecond laser beam.
