摘要 <p>A spacer (30) and a grid unit (40) are arranged between a first substrate (11) on which a fluorescent surface is formed and a second substrate (12) on which a plurality of electron discharge sources (18). The grid unit has a plurality of electron beam passing holes (44) each opposing to the electron discharge sources and arranged to oppose to the second substrate. The grid unit has a plate-shaped grid (42) to which a predetermined voltage is applied and a first insulation layer (46) covering the outer surface of the grid. The grid unit includes a conductive layer (48) connected to the ground potential arranged between the first insulation layer and the second insulation layer and a second insulation layer (50) formed to be superimposed on the conductive layer and located between the conductive layer and the second substrate. According to this invention, it is possible to reduce the electric field of the second substrate surface and suppress generation of discharge by the grid unit, thereby providing an image display device having improved reliability and display quality.</p>
