PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient portable terminal capable of effectively providing useful information to a viewer of publications, a relevant information providing system, and a program for portable terminal. SOLUTION: The portable terminal 20 for providing relevant information related to published information to a reader of a book 10 including a plurality of bar codes 11 (11A, 11B, etc.) provided in relation to a group of published information and recording clue information according to the group of published information comprises a reader which reads clue information recorded from any one bar code 11, a content acquisition part acquiring a content from a content server based on access information contained in the input clue information, and a content reproduction part reproducing the acquired content and providing it to the reader.
