PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a password forcing device forcing a user to set a POP and an HDP. SOLUTION: A notebook computer for a user requiring setting of the POP and HDP is connected to a manager computer and an RIS server via a LAN, and the manager computer sets the notebook computer to a password forcing remotely. When electric power is supplied to the notebook computer set in the password forcing mode, a POST 20 determines whether it is in the password forcing mode or not, and when it is in the password forcing mode, the password forcing mode flag is not reset unless the POP and/or HDP are/is set. When the POP and/or HDP are/is set, the POST 20 releases the password forcing mode and boots an operating system. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
