PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent irregular scannings from occurring due to shocks made, when holding recording material by a pair of carrying rollers and releasing such holding are performed using a cam mechanism. SOLUTION: A carrying unit 39 is provided in the exposure device of a photographic printer. Then, 1st and 2nd cam followers 86 and 87 are attached to one-side ends of roller frames 72 and 73 for respectively keeping the 1st nip roller 46 of the 1st carrying roller 41 and the 2nd nip roller 50 of the 2nd carrying roller 42 arranged in the carrying unit 39. The cam mechanism 89 for shifting the 1st and the 2nd nip rollers is provided. Since the peripheral surfaces of the 1st and the 2nd cam followers 86 and 87 are covered with a rubber layer 111, composed of urethane rubber, the shock made when holding the recording material by the pairs of carrying rollers 41 and 42 and releasing such holding are switched by using the cam mechanism 89 is restrained to a minimum so as to prevent the uneven scanning from occurring on a recorded image.
