IMAGE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically remove such an image part as a mole or spot without deteriorating the picture quality of the image of any organ existing in a face.

SOLUTION: A face/organ position detecting part 201 extracts the regions of a face and organs from an image to be processed. A removal object detecting part 202 decides a removal processing object region by removing the region of organs from the extracted region of the face, and detects the removal object image in the removal processing object region. A removal processing part 203 removes the removal object image by updating the value of each of the pixels of the detected removal object image based on the values of the peripheral pixels of the removal object image.
