<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical image signal coding bit rate control method which can be effectively applied to a mobile communication terminal. <P>SOLUTION: An image signal transmission method for a mobile communication terminal comprises the steps of: dividing a current frame of an image signal into a plurality of GOBs (Groups of Blocks) each having a certain size; determining whether or not a current GOB to be transmitted of the plurality of GOBs is a first GOB of the current frame; and utilizing a control parameter value of the previous GOB if the current GOB to be transmitted is not the first GOB of the current frame, to transmit the current GOB while controlling its encoding bit rate. Preferably, a hybrid method wherein an inter-frame GOB update method and an intra-frame GOB update method are mixed is used, so that a bit rate change between frames is greatly reduced and data transmission of a channel can be efficiently utilized to therefore provide a user with optimum image quality. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
