PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver (wireless LAN device, for example) realizing low power consumption. SOLUTION: The receiver is provided with: a radio frequency signal processing section 4 for converting a received radio frequency signal into a signal of a lower frequency; an RSSI circuit 31 (reception strength detecting section) for detecting a signal strength of said radio frequency signal; an intermediate frequency signal processing section 5 for converting the signal from the radio frequency signal processing section 4 into a signal of a much lower frequency; a digital demodulation section 7 (demodulation section) for demodulating the signal from the intermediate frequency signal processing section 5; and an electrification control circuit 52 for controlling electrification of respective circuits (AGC circuit 22, IF mixer circuits 23a, 23b, LPF circuits 25a, 25b and amplifier circuits 26a, 26b) of the intermediate frequency signal processing section 5 belonging to an analog part 10 based on a detection result of the RSSI circuit 31.
