<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immediately stop a vehicle mounted with a motor as a running driving source when the vehicle collides or it is expected to collide. <P>SOLUTION: When a vehicle collides or it is expected to collide, a strong electric relay 7 is interrupted, and the switching element 36a is turned off on the upper arm side of the converter 28 of a power converter 6. A power supply 8 is thereby disconnected. At the same time, the switching elements 32a to 32c on the upper arm side of an inverter 27 are turned off, and the switching elements 32d to 32f on the lower arm side are turned on. Thus, power supply to a motor generator MG1 as a running driving source is quickly interrupted, and the terminals of the motor generator MG1 are short-circuited to each other to operate it as a generator.
