<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electric/electronic equipment capable of easily collecting state information within a device and flexibly changing a recording mode of the state information within the device. <P>SOLUTION: In a general OS, a commercially available small flash memory card capable of reading/writing data is used, insertion of the memory card is detected, a program or definition information recorded within the card is read, state information of device internal components is collected based on the program or definition information, and the resulting state information is recorded in the memory card.
