<p>A sliced bread packaging machine allows, enables sliced bread units, each having a different number of slices, to be smoothly supplied into a common packaging apparatus. The sliced bread is initially conveyed in a standing state, as in a toaster, along a conveyor (1). Typically full loaves of bread are fed from the conveyor (1) to a first supply path (10), and half loaves of bread are fed to a second supply path (20). Full loaves of bread are conveyed along the first supply path (10) and discharged to a sliced bread receiving path (50) on route to the packaging apparatus. Half loaves of bread conveyed along the second supply path (20) are received by a reversing device (40), rotated by 90{, and discharged to the sliced bread receiving path (50) on route to the packaging apparatus. By changing over the feed of bread to the sliced bread receiving path (50), and thus the packaging apparatus, bread loaves of varying size may be smoothly packaged.</p> |
