In a capsule endoscope (10), illumination body (12a) constituting illumination means (12) is provided so as to incline from the front side to the rear side, toward the outside from the center axis (C) of the capsule endoscope (10). The center axis of the volume of illumination light (L) emitted from the illumination body (12a) is outwardly shifted. This results that the brightness of the illumination light in an illuminated area in the center portion of observation where illumination light rays from plural illumination means (12) collect and the brightness in a peripheral area excluding the observation center portion are substantially the same.
