Using a first terminal (1), a request (S5) is transmitted to a computer-based central service unit (4). It includes communications addresses of one or more second terminals (1') and is transmitted via the network (3). The request (S7) is relayed via the network by the central service unit, to the second communications units (1') specified by the addresses. Configuration data (S9, S11) with communications- and security parameters, is exchanged between the first communications terminal unit (1) and the second communications terminal units (1, 1') via the network. A secure virtual private communication network (2) is formed between the first communications terminal unit (1) and the second communications end units (1'), using the exchanged configuration data, via a divided communications medium.
