The method involves transmitting an instruction to a telecommunication network (2) from a telephone terminal (1), such that the network transmits a multimedia messaging service (MMS) message towards the terminal. A notification indicating reception of MMS message is transmitted towards the network from terminal, where the notification has a state field notifying whether the message has been received by the terminal. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a telephone terminal cooperating with a telecommunication network (B) a telecommunication network cooperating with a telephone terminal.
