PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of simply measuring the diffusion speed of an organic solvent component, which is based on a volatile organic compound (VOC), from a coating film because the reduction of the volatile organic compound diffused from the coating after the coating of a building material or the like with coating is required in recent years from the problem of a residential environment. SOLUTION: A coated plate coated with coating is placed at a place, against which an air conditioning wind does not directly impinge, of a thermostatic and humidistatic chamber and the residual organic solvent amount in the coating film with the elapse of time is measured at every organic solvent component by gas chromatography and the diffusion speed of each organic solvent component from the coating film is calculated from the relation between the number of drying days and the residual organic solvent amount.
