PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber communication system capable of supplying more optical power to an optical fiber for signal light amplification.

SOLUTION: This optical fiber communication system wherein communication is performed between two terminals installed at both ends of an optical fiber for transmitting signal light is provided with a primary excitation light source 12 for outputting excitation light for signal light amplification to the optical fiber, a secondary excitation light source 13 for outputting excitation light for excitation light amplification to the optical fiber, at least one optical fiber 61 for signal light amplification installed in the middle of the optical fiber to amplify the signal light when the excitation light for signal light amplification and the signal light are superimposed and inputted, and at least one optical fiber 51 for excitation light amplification installed in the middle of the optical fiber to amplify the excitation light for signal light amplification when the excitation light for excitation light amplification and excitation light for signal light amplification are superimposed and inputted.
