<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for an image forming apparatus having a test print mode and designed to obtain a satisfactory fixed image even after a printing operation performed in the test print mode. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a photoreceptor for forming a toner image on it; a transfer means for transferring the toner image, formed on the photoreceptor, to paper; a fixing means for fixing paper with the toner image held on it; and a control means for controlling the drive of the fixing means. The image forming means has a regular print mode with which an image is formed based upon image data stored in a storage means and inputted from an image reading device or host device, and a test print mode with which an image is formed based upon image data stored in the apparatus all the time for a test print stored in a storage means in advance. In the control method for the image forming apparatus, control is exerted to increase the cleanability to clean the fixing means when the apparatus is operated in the test print mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
