PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new highly safe medicine for inhibiting phospholipase A<SB>2</SB>(PLA<SB>2</SB>), and to provide a therapeutic agent for diseases, such as inflammatory diseases and cardiovascular diseases, in which PLA<SB>2</SB>is estimated to participate. SOLUTION: The PLA<SB>2</SB>inhibitor and the therapeutic agent for diseases in which PLA<SB>2</SB>is estimated to participate, each contains astaxanthin and/or its ester as an active ingredient.
