<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly precisely detect the abnormality of drive current flowing through a drive circuit of a power unit. <P>SOLUTION: A current detection part 60a performs sampling of motor current MCRT at the fastest operation cycle of a CPU. A current integrated value arithmetic part 62 calculates a current integrated value Is by integrating the sampling value of the motor current MCRT with a sampling period and outputs it to an abnormality judgement part 64a. The abnormality judgement part 64a judges whether the current integrated value Is is larger than a threshold value Is_std or not. When the current integrated value Is is judged to be larger than the threshold value Is_std, the abnormality judgement part generates a detection signal DET indicating the abnormality of the motor current MCRT to output the signal to a relay drive part 66 and a notifying part 68. Upon receiving the detection signal DET, the relay drive part 66 generates a signal SE for turning off a system relay.
