Polymer (I) modified with infra red (IR)-absorber, obtained by reaction of a polymer (a) with phenolic OH groups and/or -SO2NHR groups, with a photo-thermal transformation material (b) which exhibits covalently bound halogen atom (X) that reacts with phenolic OH group or SO2NHR groups under HX splitting and alkaline conditions (where (I) is soluble in aqueous solution and the solubility is not changed by IR radiation), is new. Polymer (I) modified with infra red (IR)-absorber, obtained by reaction of a polymer (a) with phenolic OH groups and/or -SO2NHR groups, in the side chain (where (a) is soluble in aqueous-alkaline solution and the solubility is not changed by IR radiation) with a photo-thermal transformation material (b), which is in a position to absorb a radiation of 750-1300 nm and converts into warmth, where (b) in the molecule exhibits at least covalently bound halogen atom (X), which can react with a phenolic OH group or SO2NHR groups under HX splitting and alkaline conditions (where (I) is soluble in aqueous solution and the solubility is not changed by IR radiation), is new. R : H, alkyl, aryl or aralkyl. Independent claims are included for: (1) radiation-sensitive negatively working element comprising a carrier with hydrophilic surface and a layer (comprising (I)) on the hydrophilic surface of the carrier; (2) radiation-sensitive positively working element comprising a carrier with hydrophilic surface, a first layer (comprising (I)) on the hydrophilic surface of the carrier and a surface layer, which is not soluble in aqueous-alkaline developer or of it penetrable, but it is soluble by IR radiation in aqueous-alkaline developer or of it penetrable; and (3) preparation of an illustrated element, comprising providing radiation-sensitive element; picture-wise illuminating of the element with IR radiation or picture-wise suspending the element with a heat source; and picture-wise developing the illuminated element with an aqueous-alkaline developer.
|
