PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic matrix generating apparatus capable of generating a traffic matrix while reducing the computation amount for traffic matrix generation more than that of prior arts without limiting an application region.

SOLUTION: The traffic matrix generating apparatus 10 is connected to a measurement object communication apparatus 20 provided with a transfer byte counter for recording the number of transfer bytes of packets transmitted/received via an interface. A transfer byte counter read/totalizing section 11 reads the number of transfer bytes from the transfer byte counter at a prescribed read time interval. A traffic matrix generating section 14 calculates a traffic value for each set of a receiver side interface and a transmitter side interface on the basis of the read number of transfer bytes. Then the traffic matrix comprising a receiver side interface number and a transmitter side interface number according to an interface number provided in advance to the interface, with the calculated value as an element, is produced.
