<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method which can shorten and fix the setting time until conforming an axis γ to a real magnetic axis d or an axis -d which has advanced 180° from the real magnetic axis, without recourse to the electric angle of the reference phase θ0 to start the estimation of the initial magnetic pole, and can improve the accuracy in magnetic pole position estimation, by estimating a magnetic pole position estimation starting phase θS in advance. <P>SOLUTION: It is so arranged as process the transaction in such a procedure as to observe and store the interference current generated in the direction of an axis δ when a γ-axis current command from a γ-axis current generating circuit 1 is given as a step-form AC current command, within a θ<SB>γ</SB>×θ<SB>s</SB>making circuit 7, and to decide the magnetic pole position estimation starting phase θ<SB>S</SB>in advance by the magnitude relation of the interference current stored this way. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
