PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new oxygen isotope-labeled organic carbonyl compound enabling elucidation of distribution of a complicate metabolic pathway or determination of minute substance in a living thing and to provide a method for efficiently producing the organic carbonyl compound. SOLUTION: In the organic carbonyl compound, at least one oxygen atom is labeled with an oxygen isotope. The oxygen isotope is preferably<SP>17</SP>O or<SP>18</SP>O. The oxygen isotope-labeled organic carbonyl compound is represented by general formula (I) (wherein R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>are each a hydrogen atom or an organic group and at least one of R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>is an organic group).
