PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a release film which has high surface smoothness, excellent handling properties such as conveyance and take-up procedure; releasability; proper wettability; and satisfactory surface characteristics with oligomer deposition inhibitive effect, and can realize the efficient manufacture of a protective resin sheet for an optical disc recording film, especially a protective acrylic resin sheet for a blue ray disc recording film, a ceramic green sheet or a transfer electrode sheet, above all, a thin sheet with not more than 5μm thickness. SOLUTION: This release film has a melamine resin coating showing 25 to 40 critical surface tension (unit: mN/m) formed on at least one surface of a plastic film with not more than 10 nm average roughness (Ra) of the surface centerline.
