PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely control the position of an irradiation lens for irradiating a recording medium with a light. SOLUTION: There are provided: a means (23) for estimating a high-frequency component of a positional error signal; means (13, 14, and 15) for detecting the timing when noise is generated in the positional error signal; and a means (24) for removing the noise by replacing the original high-frequency component of the positional error signal with an estimated value for the high-frequency component at the timing when the noise is generated, wherein the position of the lens is controlled using the positional error signal in which the noise is removed. Alternatively, as the means for detecting the timing when the noise is generated in the positional error signal, a means using the difference between the original high-frequency component and the estimated value of the high-frequency component is provided, and the noise in the positional error signal is removed by an optional noise removing means. Alternatively, a means (21) for delaying the low-frequency component with respect to the high-frequency component of the positional error signal is provided, and the noise in the positional error signal is removed by the optional noise removing means using the delayed low-frequency component.
