<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems in which an intermediate transfer body varies in peripheral length with the temperature of the intermediate transfer body itself, to cause color slurring of toner images of four colors Y, M, C, and K to be put one over another on the intermediate transfer body and the intermediate transfer body loses surface roughness as transfer is repeated to cause a defect in tranfser of toner to a form. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is equipped with an EEPROM, in which the outside air temperature influencing the temperature of the intermediate transfer body itself, fixation temperature, and a peripheral speed of the intermediate transfer body are stored, while being made to correspond to one another. When the intermediate transfer body is rotated at a peripheral speed stored in the EEPROM, while being made to correspond to measured outside temperature and fixing temperature, the time needed for the intermediate transfer body to make one round becomes constant, regardless of the temperature of the intermediate transfer body itself. Further, the amount of toner sticking on the intermediate transfer body is held in the EEPROM, and a transfer voltage is controlled based upon the held sticking amount, so that even if the intermediate transfer does not have roughness on the surface as transfer is repeated, transfer defects of toner will not be produced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
