IMAGE SUPPLY DEVICE, PRINTER, AND ITS CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein printing with a file of a previously stored printing method cannot be always performed, when an image supply device for storing image data and the file for previously describing the printing method of the image data sets printing with a predetermined communication protocol between it and a printer.

SOLUTION: In response to a start of communication between the printer and an interface for connecting a storage medium for storing the image data and the file (DPOF) for describing the printing method of the image data, it is recognized whether communication between it and the printer can be performed with the predetermined communication protocol (CDPS) (S403). When the communication can be performed with the predetermined communication protocol, a printing specification capable of being set with the predetermined protocol and the file are transmitted to the printer (S405 and S406).
