<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording body conveyance defect predicting method of predicting a conveyance defect such as paper jamming of a recording body in an image forming apparatus and enabling necessary processing such as maintenance before the conveyance defect occurs, a fixing device which predicts jamming in fixation and enables previous processing such as maintenance, and an image forming apparatus using those. <P>SOLUTION: The fixing device 25 is provided with a parting claw contact sensor 210 which detects contact of recording paper with a parting claw 203 as a track abnormality detecting means to detect track abnormality in which the recording paper P having passed through a nip part N draws a track different from a normal one, thereby detecting parting abnormality at a parting part α. Thus, the parting abnormality of the recording paper P at the parting part α is detected to predict jamming, and maintenance such as component replacement or repair is performed before jam occurrence to reduce the time loss of a user. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
