<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quench protection system (18) in order to protect a superconductor (12) from damages caused by a quench state. <P>SOLUTION: The quench-protecting system (18) includes a voltage detector (20), operable so as to detect the voltage at both ends of the superconductor (12). The system (18) also includes a frequency filter (22) coupled to the voltage detector (20). The frequency filter (22) is operable, so as to couple to the voltage signal that indicates the rise of a superconductor voltage, caused by the quench state to a control circuit (26) and to block voltage signal that does not indicate the rise. The system (18) is operable so as to detect whether a quench state exists in the superconductor (12), on the basis of the voltage signal received via the frequency filter (22), and to start protective measures in response to the detection. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
