PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent failure of data recording reserved for a recording medium being exchangeable. SOLUTION: When a control part determines that a recording medium inspection mode after completion of reservation is valid in S1 and determines that a sufficient residual time for performing data recording pre-processing exists in S2, the control part performs data recording pre-processing (recording medium kind discrimination/apparatus adjustment processing, physical format processing, verify(defect detection) processing, logic format processing, defect control processing, aging processing, recording capacity control processing) in S3, when the control part determines that a fatal error is caused in the above each processing in S4, the control part displays prohibition of using the recording medium on a display and prompts exchange of the recording medium, then this processing is finished.
