PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer supporting a recording roll paper which reduces wasteful consumption of the recording paper by cutting a requisite minimum portion in accordance with an image already formed even if the power once cut off during the operation of the printer is recovered again. SOLUTION: When the power of the printer is turned on (#61), a recording paper transfer control section reads an abnormal stop bit stored in a memory (#62). If the abnormal stop bit is 1 (1 in #62), a transfer distance necessary for moving the terminal end of the image formed on the recording paper to the operating position of a cutter is computed on the basis of image forming area information and leading edge position information stored in the memory (#63) and the recording paper is transferred (#64).
