Well pump, pumping system and method

A pumping system 100 comprises a submersible pump 200 disposed within tubing 105 in a well 110. The pump comprises a pumping chamber 228 enclosing a diaphragm 230. The pump has inlet 206 and outlet 208. The diaphragm is a flexible membrane that defines a boundary between the pumping chamber and a diaphragm chamber 240. A piston 212 is disposed at least partly within the diaphragm chamber. The pump may have a release valve 234 to prevent over-pressurisation of the diaphragm chamber. The system may have a hydraulic intensifier 210 which causes the piston to reciprocate.
