STYRENE RESIN REDUCED IN CONTENT OF LOW-MOLECULAR INGREDIENT AND THE USE THEREOF

A process for producing a styrene resin reduced in the content of low- molecular ingredients which comprises: a continuous anionic polymerization step in which a feed system having the following composition (A) is continuously introduced en bloc or portion-wise to one side of a reactor R1 having an inverse mixing flow and the resultant reaction product system is continuously discharged from the other side of the reactor R1, while regulating the temperature inside the reactor R1 to 40 to 120°C and regulating the average proportion of the styrene monomer to the total amount of the styrene monomer, hydrocarbon solvent, and styrene polymer present in the reactor R1 to less than 10 wt.%; and drying the resultant styrene polymer solution to remove volatile matters therefrom. (A) Styrene monomer 1.0 kg Hydrocarbon solvent 0.1-3 kg Organolithium compound 0.5-200 mmol.
