PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To to perform playback of at least the data which have been recorded even when data are overflowed from a buffer memory because of continued writing errors. SOLUTION: A recording and playback apparatus 10 is provided with a drive part 21 performing writing of data to a disk 1, an audio processing part 22 performing coding to audio data, a buffer memory 23 temporarily storing the audio data transferred from the audio processing part 22 to the drive part 21, a management information memory 24 storing management information and a system controller 25. In the recording and playback apparatus 10, when writing errors are generated to the disk 1 during recording and the buffer memory 23 has no free space, storage of the audio data in the buffer memory 23 is suspended.
