A temperature measuring device at an opening of container wall has a protective sheath (2) comprised of mixture of heat resistant metal oxide and graphite, closing end of measuring device inside the container and spaced 50 mm from the container wall. A temperature measurement element (3) is in an opening of protective sheath. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining interface between container contents.
