<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phacoemulsification needle capable of controlling heat generation to the minimum and using without a sleeve. <P>SOLUTION: The phacoemulsification needle is equipped with a shaft 3, a tip part 6 arranged at the distal end of the shaft 3, and an aspiration lumen 4 extending through the shaft 3 and the tip part. The tip part has an opening part communicating with the aspiration lumen 4. The shaft 3 includes at least one part having a ribbed outer surface 30.
