PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition for a surface protective film, having excellent antistatic properties, a long pot life, good workability, and suitable adhesion, scarcely causing a change in the adhesion with the elapse of time, and capable of preventing a surface of an adherend from being stained, after the film is released from the adherend, and to provide the surface protective film having a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer formed out of the composition. SOLUTION: A polymer composition for a pressure-sensitive adhesive is provided by making a polymer for the pressure-sensitive adhesive contain a cationic surfactant and a perchloric acid salt therein.
