A robot arm coupling device enabling a reduction in thickness while using ball members (44) in a lock mechanism (27) fixedly locking both plates (1) and (2) by connecting integrally with each other, comprising a master plate (1) fitted to a robot arm, a tool plate (2) to which a tool is fitted, and the lock mechanism (27). A plurality of master side ball storage grooves (29) of an arc shape in cross section which can store the ball members (44) are formed in the outer peripheral surface of the cam member (28) of the lock mechanism (27) and a plurality of tool side ball storage grooves (63) of an arc shape in cross section which can store the ball members (44) are formed in the ball receiver (58) of the tool plate (2) so as to be extended along the generally slide direction of the cam member (28). Master side first tilted parts (30) are formed on the inner surfaces of the master side ball storage grooves (29) and tool side tilted parts (64) tilted in a direction reverse to that of the master side first tilted parts (30) are formed on the inner surfaces of the tool side ball storage grooves (63). With the cam member (28) positioned at a lock position, the master side first tilted parts (30) press the ball members (44) to bring the ball members into contact with the tool side tilted parts (64). |
