<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for a microwave label using a field modulated dielectric material. <P>SOLUTION: An EAS system 100 is provided with monitoring equipment which is configured so as to monitor an interrogation zone like an interrogation zone 122. The monitoring equipment is configured so as to detect the presence of a security tag within the interrogation zone 122. The EAS system 100 is provided with a transmitter 102, a security tag 106, a receiver 116, a controller 118, an alarm system 120, and a magnetic field generator 124. The security tag includes a marker comprising the field modulated dielectric material which is capable of operation at microwave frequencies and has a reflection coefficient, and receives an inquiry signal and causes the marker to create a reply signal in response to the signal and receives a modulation signal and changes the reflection coefficient of field modulated dielectric material synchronously with the modulation signal and modulates the reply signal to form a modulated reply signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
