It is possible to improve the antenna performance of a built-in antenna in the closed state of a collapsible radio device without deteriorating the antenna performance in the open state. The mobile radio device includes an upper case unit (101) and a lower case unit (104) which are rotatably connected to each other through a collapsible mechanism. The upper case unit (101) contains a first conductor plate (102) and a second conductor plate (103). The lower case unit (104) contains an antenna element (107), a circuit substrate (105), and a power supply system connecting the first conductor plate (102) to the circuit substrate. The mobile radio device includes a detection unit (109) for detecting open/close state of the upper case unit (101) and the lower case unit (104) and a first switching unit (110) for switching between electrically opening and short-circuiting the first conductor plate with the second conductor plate according to the detection result of the detection unit (109).
