<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a server device for notifying the state of equipment on a network and reducing loads related to the network. <P>SOLUTION: State information received successively from a printer is accumulated and managed by a message management section. Each time when the state information is received, it is updated and retained based on the message type. The traffic state of the network is detected. If the detected traffic state is higher than a prescribed value when transmitting a first message of the same type as a message retained by the retention section, the first message is discarded. In this case, content retained by the retaining means is stored in a storage section. When newly acquiring a second message of the same type as the message retained by the retention section from a message management section for transmission, it is determined whether the content of the second message is identical to what stored in the storage section, thus controlling the transmission of the second message to a client device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
